Angelina

You are currently browsing the archive for the Angelina category.

These are some of the postcards that I have made for my first Internet postcard exchange with the Surface Design Yahoo Group. This has been great fun and I have been able to use three of the techniques that we have been learning about here.  The background material, is the fabric paper, the dragonfly was made with beads that we made on the bead day and the wings where made from melting cellophane and angelina together.  Hope you enjoy seeing these.

Angelina

Karen and I (Iris) spent our second meeting of the mixed media group playing with Angelina. Angelina is a synthetic fiber that can be melted using an iron to produce a fine sheet that can be further manipulated in your art work.

Angelina comes in a variety of colors and when melted has a sheen. Both Karen and I made a number of samples to see what we could do with the Angelina to gather ideas on how we wanted to use the Angelina. Because Angelina is a fiber like product it can be spun with silk and wool to add sheen to the yarn. We didn’t try spinning with the fiber this time, but this might be an idea for the retreat.

The next meeting of the Mixed Media Group will take place on November the 16th at Gail’s place if the road construction is finished, if not the meeting will take place at Iris’s. We will pick a topic once we know where we will be holding the meeting. How does nuno felting sound??????
